Lawrence Taylor Pleads Not Guilty
Former New York Giant linebacker and Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor, plead not guilty yesterday to an indictment that alleges he had sex with a 16 year old girl (statutory rape). Taylor's defense attorney , Arthur Aidala, said Taylor would challenge the girl's identification of him. Aidala also said the defense would look into whether all statements made in the case were voluntary. In this case, Aidala also said, "There is no plea bargain. There is no offer." Curiously and maybe the reason behind the not guilty plea with so much evidence against Taylor, Taylor's wife sat in the front row of the courtroom during the proceeding.

Antonio Pierce Retires and Joins ESPN
Former New York Giant middle linebacker, Antonio Pierce, has officially announced his retirement and will be joining ESPN as an NFL analyst. Pierce played nine seasons in the NFL until he was released last February by the Giants. Pierce played four season for the Washington Redskins and five seasons for the Giants. He was the Giants defensive captain for all five seasons. Pierce was elected to the Pro Bowl after the 2006 season and won a Super Bowl with the Giants against the New England Patriots in 2008. Thank you Antonio for all of the great years and professionalism. I had the chance to meet Antonio briefly after the Super Bowl win in February 2008. He was very friendly and open to his fans.
Giants Statement on the Passing on Bob Sheppard
Legendary New York Yankee and New York Giant announcer Bob Sheppard passed away on Sunday at the age of 99. Anyone who has ever been to a Yankees or Giants game fondly remembers his voice over the public address system. His voice was synonymous with New York sports. The Giants released the following statement after his passing, "Bob Sheppard was the most distinguished and dignified voice in all of professional sports. We are very proud of the fact that he was the voice of the Giants for so many years. Bob was a true gentleman and the consummate professional. There will never be another one like him."

Chad Jones Heads to New York
The new York Giants announced yesterday that Chad Jones will be transferred to new York Presbyterian Hospital - Weil Cornell medical center for plastic surgery and other procedures. The Giants are also flying in Jones' parents and girlfriend. Additionally, NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, called the Jones family and offered to take care of hotel accommodations while Jones is treated in New York.
On another note, police stated that they believe alcohol did not play a part in Jones' season (possibly career) ending accident.

Chris Davis Released
A week ago when the new York Giants claimed Chris Davis off of waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals, the Giants hoped he would be the replacement kick returner for injured returner/wide receiver Dominik Hixon. Unfortunately, Davis failed his physical with the Giants and was released yesterday. Back to the drawing board I guess.
